Outside Play
Outside play is a regular part of the school routine, as required by preschool licensing. As such, we will be spending time outside when the weather permits. Please be sure that your child is dressed for the weather and for probable changes in the weather for that day. Do not send your child to school if not well enough to be outside.

Birthdays will be celebrated at school upon request. Please notify the Directresses of your child's upcoming birthday and feel free to bring a special snack for that day. As cake can be very messy, we ask that the snack be practical for the school environment (cookies, muffins, mini cupcakes...). Pictures of your child as they have grown are a welcome addition to the celebration.

Other celebrations include holidays such as Halloween (no costumes please), Christmas, Valentines Day and Easter. Feel free to bring your family's cultural holidays into the classroom to share with us.

Parent - Teacher Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences are conducted by phone at the end of October. Classroom observations (by request) are in February followed by parent/teacher conferences in March (school will be closed for these days). Appointments, by phone or in person, can be arranged at any time throughout the year, simply call ahead and arrange time. After school or just before class is a good opportunity for you to enjoy time alone in the classroom with your child so that they can show you their valued work without the distractions of others. Call ahead to arrange a time if interested. All family members are welcome at our Open House in May. Report cards go home during the last week of school in June, giving parents time to arrange to discuss the reports with teachers if necessary.

Fieldtrips and guest speakers are dispersed throughout the year. Check your calendar for upcoming events.

At least one parent from each family must attend the three general meetings held at the school in September, January and May. School business and curriculum will be discussed at each meeting and a guest speaker may be arranged once a year.

Closed on Stat Holidays
The school will be closed on statutory holidays, winter and spring break in accordance with the School District and for four Professional Development Days, which we try to coordinate with the District.

The Christmas social includes entertainment by the children, a 'special' guest, lots of food and our yearly Christmas raffle. All family members are welcome.

School Picnic and Barbeque
We end the year with our school picnic and barbeque. The day includes a multicultural potluck and lots of games and special events for children and adults.
