First Classroom Opened in September, 1976
Children’s House Montessori Preschool Society officially came into being on February 23, 1976. It was started by a group of committed parents who managed to have the classroom operational by September, 1976 in Bookmere Elementary School (presently Pacific Academy). These same pioneer parents convinced the Coquitlam School Board to begin a Montessori Elementary program in our District in 1979.

Relocated to Parkland Elementary School in 1984
When Bookmere Elementary was permanently closed in June of 1984. Children’s House was relocated to Parkland Elementary School. In 1990, a lack of space at Parkland School necessitated another move to a portable classroom on the grounds. We are now happily settled in this environment.

Children’s House Continues to Flourish
Despite numerous changes over 2 decades, Children’s House continues to flourish thanks to its dedicated, caring staff, and the parents who volunteer their time and energy to administer the school.
